Caprica did not have the numbers to keep the show alive. They decided to make something involving the Battlestar Galactica and have a lot more action in it.

But it still might be an online series.

It just seems like the level of pandering to the audience is almost Twilight-ish in it's audacity (IMO, anyway):
"Oh, was Caprica too sedate and contemplative for you? OK, we'll just amp up the action until you get seizures and nosebleeds, then...."
IMO, the story of BSG (from Cylon inception, CW1, CW2, the exodus and eventual discovery of Earth) has been TOLD. Even if bits and pieces of it are only told in flashback ("Caprica" "Razor") or exposition-heavy dialogue (Sam's rushed backstory of the Final Five), we still get it. We really don't need any more. The story is complete.
This is one of those times I wish north American TV was more British; many BBC shows have a followed arc, whether they're successful or not. They begin, and eventually finish. Although lately, some have been following the disturbing trend of bleeding things dry ("Being Human"? You got me worried...).

And it's back to the 'silent treatment.' I haven't heard a damn thing about B&C since....

Well, if they truly follow the Caprica plan (not the best plan, I'll admit), they'll release onto DVD/Bluray first. Then they'll show a 12 episode-length season a year (or two) later; fail to promote it whenever they have the opportunity, air the two halves of the season a year apart, watch it fail in the ratings as as it loses ALL momentum it ever had, and then wonder what went wrong?

On July 12, 2012, an article written on the San Diego Comic Con Battlestar Panel stated that Richard Hatch and Jane Espenson are convinced that "Blood and Chrome is still on the table as a series for SyFy, and that Bryan Singer’s BSG movie is on track".
There's a modified version of the trailer still on Youtube. They swapped the Immigrant Song for BSG soundtrack music.

Nice trailer overall; but the vipers still look... wrong. I can't quite put my finger on why, but they just do.
At any rate, while I'm NOT optimistic (for either B&C as a series or the Singer movie), I'll try to adopt a 'wait-and-see' attitude...
