Sorry for the down time. We seem to have a problem with GBBS's Mysql database going over the (Hostgator) hosting account process limits . This happened in October also where they suspended the site until I could do something about it. For the next couple days I am going to keep the gallery offline. There seem to be a lot of Gallery table database requests (queries) . We may have to make the Gallery member only so guests would have to register to see the gallery. My other option is to move GBBS to a better hosting package, right now it on a fairly cheap 'shared' hosting package I may have to go to VPS solution or higher. I'm not sure if I have the monthly funds to go to a better service. I make no money from GBBS and have no ad's and I would like to keep it that way if possible.

So again, sorry for the down time.

There is a major forum/gallery/blog software update I need to do this forum (and a few others lol) but I have to re-skin. I hope that the new version may streamline the forum and gallery a bit more also.

Thanks Guys. I think be making the Gallery members only would certainly help. The upside is it may cause more people to sign up then again it could also hold people back from joining but i don't see that.

I don't either; it's not like it costs them to sign up and see the galleries if they really wanted to.

Also, what about a donator-membership level/option for the site? For example I feel all fuzzy, and need my GBBCRACK so say I donate $25 (PayPal) to "whoever pays the bills" - to help keep the site going. NOT REQUIRED, NOT AN ANNUAL FEE that one is obliged to pay more than one time, I am just a one-time generous genocidal killer robot from space, and as such, I get a "badge" or some other distinction in my profile deal on the left of each post (under my avatar, with the call signs and such.

Enough one-time "helps" could fund a year or so of costs. Just an Idea..........

I pay the bills LOL. This site is actually fairly inexpensive to maintain as it has been. Here is what I pay just so you guys know:

- Annual name renewal for GalacticaBBS.com - $11.00
- Shared hosting package at Hostgator - $9.99 a month
- Invision board/blog/gallery license support $25, $10 & $10 = $45 every six months.
- (Time and effort by Zipper and Myself - Priceless! :) )

So yearly about $220.

To go to up a level to a VPS hosting package will be minimum 39 to 49 a month, although I have not really looked for better deal yet, just looked at hostgator.

I also use go daddy for my sites. I'd certainly think the gallery should be registered members viewing only. Would certainly cut down on the bandwidth usage.

I did not like godaddy for hosting a few years ago but maybe they have changed. I use them for all my domain names though.

I will get the gallery open today to members only.

Was anyone else having issues with emoticons? I was getting little tails of extra code at the end of mine when I'd edit; but it seems to have cleared up on it's own...

Not a big deal, really; more like a mosquito on an elephant's butt....

From what I have learn with chatting with Tom is that we have been getting so much visitors to the site that the server gets overwhelmed and shuts us down. Tom took down the youtube links on top to the Blood and Chrome videos so that might help slow down the traffic. We have a good server but not the greatest for what we need for large volumes of traffic. We have to do what we can afford to do here since we don't support the site through ads.

Please bare with any inncoviences if there are any in the future. We are on top of the site and check many times through the day.
