What's your favorite BSG character? And why?

Mine's Starbuck. She's so awesome! She has that ,,in your frakkin' face'' attitude. She's also very brave and cool.

Adama.

The foundation of the series itself. Father of not only Apollo, but spiritually the entire fleet (a parental responsibility he shares with Roslin).
He's earthy, cool and wise but not above making mistakes. He's real.

BTW, my favorite character is Tom Zarek.

With the original BG, it's Lt. Starbuck, the blond-headed MAN that I had my first crush on.

Well there not exactly a character.but I have to go with the new cylon Centurions.I think they are impressive machines...

What I love about Zarek (in addition to the fact that Hatch blew me away) is that he ALWAYS kept me guessing, 'is he a good guy or a bad guy?' And in a way, he was neither. Like so many of the show's characters he perfectly demonstrates that NuBSG is a very gray universe (much like ours); where 'good and evil' are very relative. It was also VERY rewarding to see Hatch gifted (after so many years of single-handedly trying to revive the show himself) with a very complex and challenging role after his pioneering efforts on the original series (that I loved SO MUCH as a kid). His role as Zarek was full circle cool; it had good kharma written all over it...

Sean is right with the new Centurions. THEY ROCK.
I think they were not used as well as they could have been. That is one major problem with nuBSG... the Centurions being totally "mindless robo-zombies" as it were... that's pretty dumb. They had potential to be much more.

I know it may have ruined the idea of the new Cylons being the 'strong, silent types' but I would've loved to have heard them speak, just once or twice.
I imagined they probably would've had more of a smooth, yet still Cylon-tronic voice. Too bad we never heard it...

Since I'm late in finding this thread, it wouldn't be fair to close it, but I'm pretty sure we already have a thread for this. In future, please try to check to make you're not duplicating a thread, especially for an obvious topic like this.

Anyway, my favourite is pretty much a three way tie between Adama, Helo, and Cally. Cally because she's tougher than she looks, Helo because he's the show's white knight, and Adama because he's Adama.

I'm really glad they never spoke. It gave them an aura of mystery and intimidation. You never knew what they were thinking.

But they were just pointless characters. Might as well just had the skin jobs holding guns, the end result was nearly the same.

The end result wouldn't have been at all the same. Six and Dorral don't have nearly the same intimidation factor as an eight foot tall, silent, soulless killing machine.

It'd be like if you'd decided to have the alien from, er, Alien start talking and getting backstory. It wouldn't be nearly so scary.

Good point.
The skinjobs serve as the 'voice' of the new Cylons. It was kind of cool (for a TOS BSG fan anyway) to hear the evil Speak 'n Spell voices of the 'guardian' Cylons in "Razor."
It was a nice wink to the mythology of TOS...



The TOS Cylon voices remind me of this Dane Cook sketch on how Speak n Spells were inherently evil toys...

I couldnt imagine BSG without any one of the characters. I truely love them all and have a special bound with them.
However, I do think Helena Cain is one of my ultimate favourites. I always LOVE complex and slightly frakked up characters . I haven't been as fascinated with a character as I am with Admiral Cain for a long time. I love exploring her character in discussions and fanfics Plus Michelle Forbes is just amazing as Cain.

Or when he drools all over Apollo's arm in "Revelations".... wow! EJO is soooo method! No vanities at ALL. He just goes for it. I can't think of too many leading men in his position who are so unafraid to look awful or undignified on screen. He is very BRAVE as an actor...

I can't imagine Ted Danson or Mark Harmon wallowing in their own sick in a gutter like that....
