As I mentioned in another thread, I'm getting into the idea of teaching myself image editing, partly because I think it'll improve my resume as a freelance and partly just cause it interests me. So today I downloaded Gimp and made two quick sig banners to see if I could. They're rather crude, but considering I had never touched an image editing program until just over an hour ago, I don't think I did half bad.

I figured I'd start with a subject I'm comfortable with--namely WoW.





I'm not sure if I'll be adding more to this thread later or not, but being me, I am inordinately proud of myself and had to share my efforts with everyone.

by the way check out Sumo Paint, its a free online version of Photoshop. It's pretty good.

I always loved the bits in WoW where you can hear the Old Gods' whispers, so...




For this one I took a screenshot of one my characters, cut her out, and added her to a separate screenshot of Stormwind City. Got a little bit of the background by mistake when I cut her out, but I'm just pleased I was actually able to do it. I'm thinking of doing this with all my characters now.

Thanks. Ironically, this is probably the one I put the least amount of effort into (just cropped some fan art and added text), but I think it turned out the best of all of them.

This one was an attempt to experiment with transparency. Didn't work out as well as I'd hoped, partly due to lack of skill and partly because it's shockingly hard to find a decent pic of Ner'zhul (the Orc in the background).

Photoshop is awsome to play with .. although I must say I feel like a old lady since I refuse to update from CS3 ... I have CS 5.5 but too many basic things changed and I dont have the time to figure em out LOL

We are both old ladies then... I am in the EXACT same spot I'm just more lazy than worried about using it. Installing it is a MAJOR time sink.

Oh for me too pure lazy and I dont have the time.
THe other day I wanted to make a quick banner, so I went to CS5.5 (already installed) clicked open the pics .. looked around for a sec.. closed the progam booted cs3 and within 2 mins I was done LOL

I do an awful lot of Lich King pictures, but you gotta admit, the dude's photogenic.



I got bored of doing WoW graphics, so I did a Starcraft banner. Blizzard owns all of my soul, not just some of it.

I must say, there are few better ways to make yourself feel like a loser than to spend 15 minutes painstakingly carving out an armor-plated cartoon boob.

I also a added a gallery page to my blog to hold all my art.
