At Comic con, my wife and I did bunches of good deeds; when we were in costume (as the Flintstones), we would let kids who wanted to pose with us for pictures hold our stuffed toy 'Dino.' They loved it! And we smiled and posed for EVERY single person who asked for a photo; we refused no one (even if we were going somewhere; we stopped and posed, no question). I think we posed for
hundreds of photos that day, no kidding. Even a 20 meter walk across the dealer hall would take about 20 minutes sometimes, but you know what? It was really no trouble.
I actually enjoyed doing that. Seeing little kids get SUCH a thrill out of 'living' cartoon characters saying hello to them was kind of neat. I realized that little kids
still know the Flintstones (almost 50 yrs old now) from channels such as Boomerang or Cartoon Network. Despite the long hours and the blisters on my feet from walking in those uncomfortable sandals all day, I'd do it again in a
heartbeat.
The younger con attendees (especially the little kids)
really made it worth it.
My wife and I even signed a little girl's autograph book; in character, of course. I wrote my name as "FRED" in big, primitive looking letters. She lit up! It was a hoot.
