You'd think his attitude would be a little more different considering his time spent on Occupied Caprica

Totall agree. What he did seems completely outta character. I guess Athena/Boomer has him completely emasculated and whipped. He might as well start wearing a dress.
While Adama and Helo, et al, are debating the morality of genocide, the toasters are probably still getting rid of the billions of men, women and CHILDREN they inhilated on the 12 Colonies.
This episode was dumb

Having said that I have my doubts about a biological contamination being able to follow the Cylon host into the bathtub. I don't think the Cylons were even positive that would happen. They just thought it COULD happen.
Helo used to be on of my favorite characters. But after this episode I've got some serious issues with him.

I never thought of it, but you are so right!!!
I only saw the last half of the episode. I was babysitting last night and BSG is a little too much for a kindergartener. He didn't fall asleep until the second showing was half over. I'm surprised he stayed up that late. I took him out of school early and he was in the pool from 1:30 until 5:00. I recorded the episode, so I'll watch it in its entirety after he goes home later. He's watching Free Willy 2 right now.
I'll comment after I've seen the whole episode.

This is one of the few episodes that has me critical about writing and approval process for this series.
The virus was too easily and quickly explained.
The fact the Athena wasn't infected was to neat. It was too easy. Even when Athena explained it away it was like "blah blah I am not infected blah blah". Too simple for a show like this.
Baltar's Six in the mind screwing him through a torture. Where did they come up with that one?
I knew someone had to pull the "I am sticking up for humanity" role. It was a shame it had to be Helo. With his track record of surviving on Caprica. If anyone else finds out he is in trouble for sure.
It really didn't make sense that a Cylon being killed by a virus could transmit it back to the Ressurrection Ship anyway. I mean unless it was a sort of computer virus or worm.
Wouldn't the CIC get some kind of warning about the atmosphere in the detention area or a posted guard see and respond to the issue. I can't believe that they have 5 Cylons and NO guards. Sharon always had guards when she was in lockup.
What was Starbuck doing flying in the mission? Apollo grounded her in the last episode where she disobeys orders and almost destroys a Viper.
When did Raptors become so offensive a weapons platform? Launching missles as part of the strike force.
5 Cylons die just before the BIG mission and NO investigation? WTF!
With the new and better "stock footage" of the Galactica and Colonial One I would think they would redo the combat landing scene as well. I do like the burned look to the Galactica. It makes it seem like it has been through an atmosphere and a few basestars.
All this just leads me to believe this writing was NOT watching the previous episodes or missed several of the meetings. How some of these things could not have changed by Ron Moore and David Eick I will never know. I think 2/3's of the people that post on boards such as this could have written a better episode and not have all the flaws in it.
I am sorry if it sounds like I am being harsh but I think this was a poorly written and directed episode. I am just feeling let down as this is my favorite show and I guess I do have higher expectations for it this what they put out.
There is just so much they could do to bring it back to a more personal level.
-Explain why Lee and Starbuck are on the outs
-Show the relationship with Cally and Tyrol and how they are at parents
-Show the relationship with Lee and Dualla
-Explain more what happened back on New Caprica and the lost year
This isn't the first time BSG talked about Genocide watch the TOS episodes of Greetings from Earth and Experiment in Terra and they talked about the topics back in 1978.

Helo kills five in the lockup and doesn't get punished? He kills their plan to destroy the enemy and Adama is ok with that? Any future human blood that is spilled by the Cylons should be on his hands.
Is it really genocide when they did not manufacture a biological weapon? This was a virus they came upon.
If it was enchepalitis, how did it affect the Centurians, who are all machine? A human virus should not have affected them.
Sharon being immune because of carrying Helo's child? That makes no sense
Baltar telling D'anna that he loves her, or so she thought....that's too weird. I also wonder if Caprica six knows when Mental Six is fracking Baltar..... And do the rest of the Cylons know that Mental Six is in Baltar's head?

It may sound like a simple explanation, but it is perfectly plausible.
I am not sure how the disease could download to the base ship though. I'm a;so not sure how it could have possibly infected the centurions either.
That said.
Helo should have been in CIC, his absence should have set off red flags. I can't get my head around the fact that 5 cylon prisoners were completely unmonitored & unguarded, that right there just sets off my BS meter.
As for Starbuck, I took it that when she visitted Casey & cut her hair last episode she had made the decision to end her bitterness and comply with Adama's wish for her to buckle up and rejoin the fleet.

I don't see why it would infect the Centurians, though.....

I think they said the centurians shut down because it affected that basestar's hybrid.
