Totally agree. I still don't get that one.

The GOP is set to make a comeback in November thanks to two lack luster years by the Dems.

I wish I could disagree, but I can't; the Republicans will retake the majority because people vote with their fears, not their intellects.

Politics in the United States have reached an unbreakable, unworkable impasse with no foreseeable way through it.

Agree. Politics is a bargain between beggars.

Partly agree. Only for a permanent lunar colony.

Humanity will go to Mars within the next 30 years.

I soooo wish I could agree (I've spent 15 years with the Planetary Society on that very dream), but sadly, as the years roll on, I see that dream getting further away from us (largely through a lack of international will and desire). :(
So, as much as I hate to say this, I disagree :crybaby: (although I would SO LOVE to be wrong and I hope I am :cylonclap: ).

That is a two-part question ...

1 - Faster than light travel is simply impossible - disagree, tunneling and entanglement make it possible for information, but also to a lesser degree for matter, to travel faster than light.

2 - human beings will NEVER do so - agree it just does not seem likely at the moment, but who knows how we will outfox the laws of nature in the future.

Scifi works better in books as opposed to movies

Agreed. :cylonclap:
Books are not limited by arbitrary budgets, malfunctioning props, unreliable actors or expensive CGI effects. Not to mention you can really get into character's souls in a book; it's much harder to do so in films (not that I don't enjoy sci-fi films; I just think the genre has an easier time of it in print form).

Space Opera ("Star Wars" "Star Trek" etc) should be a separate genre from Science Fiction; just as fantasy is ("Lord of the Rings" for example).

Disagree. Drama belongs in some sci-fi

The 1971 Pinto is a classic.

Disagree, without humans, it would be nothing special. plus if humans didn't exist another race would have evolved to be in our place and who says they would be any better or worse.

Disagree. I think reincarnation 'memories' are self-generated from the imagination.

UFO "alien abductions" are either flat-out lies, remembered nightmares, hoaxes or repressed memories of sexual molestation; nothing more.

For the most part I agree. A little bit in me wants to think there is something to it, but I think it is collective memory stimulation.

agree - as long as aliens do not enjoy making fun of us, their targets make little to no sense, let alon their procedures ... they are smart enough to travel to the stars but display the medical technology of the middle ages :roflmao:

So here's another;
Christmas can be a depressing, overly commercial, expensive bore (nothing against Jesus; just the holiday), but Halloween rocks! :buttrock:
