I'll certainly watch when it comes back, but to be brutally honest, I'm just not salivating over it like I used to for BSG. It's good; but not great. Here's hoping season 1.5 (gods, I frakking HATE these long gods-damned hiatuses) delivers more on the promise of the series. More Cylons; start mass production immediately. No more long stretches of meandering, navel-gazing periods of nothing; I want more decisive storytelling. I know (and appreciate) that it prides itself on NOT being an action show (which I respect) but each installment needs to advance the story in a more timely fashion; right now there is too much VR crap and prototype testing that is going nowhere (perhaps the finale solved that, I hope). I should be LOVING this show, but I'm only liking it. Not good.

I agree with you. I have been there right after every episode to comment and enjoy it but when the break hit I just didn't get that longing feeling like with BSG. Then I watched Spartacus Blood & Sand and actually felt sorry for Caprica. Seeing the clip on Itunes just gives me hope cause the show has a ton of potential.

Here's hoping it doesn't drift into Star Trek Voyager territory; a spin-off series with wonderful potential and a great premise... that fails to live up to either.
I want Caprica to get better for it's own sake. It would be a shame to see it slide down the slippery slope to forgotten spinoffs that crashed and burned and were forgotten years later.
It's too good an idea to wind up being the next "AfterMASH", "Trapper John MD" (the miserable MASH follow ups), or "A Different World" (the utterly mediocre Cosby Show off-shoot). Or even "Joanie Loves Chachi" (the only failed spin-off from the once-immensely popular Happy Days").
Anyone remember these little gems?

Well, I, for one, have been enjoying this show and look forward to more episodes. I think people have the wrong expectations about this show; it's not BSG, and you shouldn't expect it to be. Aside from a minor stumble or two (which, face it, virtually all shows tend to have, especially early on), it has been a top notch show, IMO.

Slow day today so to deal with my daily dose of missing the show I went back and read the recap threads for each of the episodes. Interesting to arm chair quarterback the episodes after the fact. Some interesting thoughts we've had that played out and other that still need to play out. 5 months to go before the back half....that is so disappointing.

I, too, have found I'm not chomping at the bit for new Caprica like I am with some shows (surprisingly, I can't wait for more SG:U), but I'm not sure that's a bad thing. Caprica's not so much a show as it is an intellectual exercise. So it's natural you won't be eager for the next installment the way you are with some things, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing, IMO.

Agreed for the most part; it's not ravenous, must-see-that-night kind of TV (for me, anyway), but it is a welcome break from boring cop/forensics shows.

My point is that Caprica's a totally different kind of show from BSG and, indeed, from pretty much every other show. BSG was a thrilling action epic intended to keep you on the edge of your seat at all times. Caprica, as I said above, is more of an intellectual exercise than anything. It's meant to be intriguing and thought-provoking, not a thriller or a nail-biter.

I'm betting you nailed that one right to the point CK. I think it won't take long to get out of the V world and into Cylon production.

And for the record listening to the soundtrack can be just as if not more powerful than watching the show. This really is must see tv (in my opinion).
