I don't recall that they were actually called a "VIPER" were they?
IIRC they never did mention what they were. Don't think these were space fighters like we know as from BSG but some type of atmospheric fighter.
Still a great design whatever the name.

Maybe so. If they did like the TOS BSG - the term "VIPER" was a generic term for "FIGHTER" - all fighter craft were VIPERS. Maybe another nod to the old series by the Caprica crew.
Have my doubts as this was the "MK.I VIPER" that led to the MK.II that we know and love from BSG2 but the crew from Caprica did a lot of strange stuff.
