Yep! Your eyes do not deceive you, it's no Cylon projection trick - 'Battlestar Galactica: The Ride' is now built and currently undergoing rigerous testing at the new Universal Theme Park in...Singapore. Ok, so it's not all great news - but at least there IS a frakkin' ride, right?

This ride will be one of the most unique dueling coasters in the world. It features a Suspended Track (Blue = Cylon) and one Seated Track (Red = Human). It will be the tallest dueling coaster in the world; tipping in at a whopping 42.5m (140ft). The coasters will be launched from their stations at high speed instead of the usual slow traditional chain lift. Each coaster features either several inversions, a Zer0-G roll, a Cobra roll, corkscrews, vertical loops and near collisions mere inches apart.

Battlestar Galactica: Cylon will feature a suspended blue track.
The Cylons Coaster will travel on a space craft that will perform more intense manoeuvres such as one inverted loop, one cobra roll and one helix spiral. The Cylon coaster will also plunge into a 5-metre deep pit filled with artificial fog to give thrill seekers the sensation of a near miss with the ground.

Battlestar Galactica: Human will feature a seated red track.
The Human Coaster is designed for people who want a roller coaster experience with no inversions. However, according to Universal Studios Singapore engineers, the 'human' ride draws more Gs.

To wrap up, a bunch more videos from the parks Press Conference were also posted HERE and are worth taking a look at as they include never-before-seen artwork and animatics showing off what the ride and queue experiences will be like for many of the attractions.

My only 'gripe' with this ride is that it's sadly not contained inside some form of dome etc, as the effect of flying thru stars etc would have been fantastic - the fact it is outside really detracts from the essence of what the show is about. One can only presume that they were ensuring that they could easily update the ride for little cost to them in a few years time into something else I guess.

Anyway, there it is - HAVE AT IT!

Pretty sweet! Need one here, though. I've no plans to move to Singapore anytime soon! :P
