Anyone have any information on the "Cylon Tank" used in TOS?
Any specs on it or it's weapons?
What type of real-world vehicle was it built on?

I remember this ride, and going on it many yahrens ago. As I recall, the 'tank' didn't actually move, though the Cylon animatronics aboard it did turn slightly. The 'cannons' on it just belched smoke too, as I remember. I think it was more of a heavy prop than a functioning machine based on a real-world vehicle (although the treads look authentic). I loved TOS BSG as a kid, and I begged my folks to go to Universal Studios to see this ride crybaby.gif (and they dutifully complied thumbup.gif ; probably to shut me up blink.gif ). But I must say, it was a total bust. cylon-pancarte04.gif The laser 'battles' were little more than cheap, 1970s-era disco effects, and the way the Cylons 'split apart' was just lame. The colonial warrior who comes to 'save the day' looked like a bored park employee. But it WAS kind of cool to be surrounded by all of that BSG 'stuff.' Sort of like watching the show from inside the cathode ray tube! cylonclap.gif

And as I also recall, that tank thing was NEVER used in an actual episode ever. cylonnono.gif

You are right, Red-Eye. That tank was never in an episode. It was only used for the ride at Universal Studios. I remember that ride, too, and how lame it was. I was soooo disappointed with it, being the huge fan that I was (and still am!). I never really enjoyed Universal Studios after that. I love Citywalk and have seen concerts at Universal Amphitheatre, but I will never go into the Studios part. Even with the rides they have, it's just not a fun place. The outside of the studios is much better. Probably since there are many restaurants and you can get drunk.

AH.....Tks for the info everyone.

Would have bet money that it was on one of the TOS episodes. Then again, it was A LONG TIME AGO and I have killed off many brain cells since then. blush.gif Never made it to the BSG Tour or California either for that matter but from all that I have heard about it - was no great loss.

Still I think I remember somewhere seeing a film of this thing being driven around.

Will have to do some more research.

Maybe you are thinking of the little transports that Hector and Vector drove? They were boxy little, open air deals from TOS.

Hummmm... I don't think so, I'll take some caps of it and post them here. Some may be in the gallery too - experiment in terra or something like that is the show's title.

No biggie Knight, not that interested in that vehicle - just ran across that diagram while sorting some stuff around in the files.

Tks. anyway.

Thinking about this more... it is sort of odd the Cylons didn't get any land equipment. I guess the network spent all the money on the suits and sets - OOPS - they have to walk huh.gif

My very good friend and co-admin, Red Eye, has worked and worked and the By Your Command.net Gallery has nearly 9,000 images now.

Among them are 50 images of the Cylon Tank from Battle of Galactica (BOG).
It is a great resource to add to this informative thread; I hope you enjoy.
