I like logical arguments, about stuff that doesn't seem to have that much in the way of logic.

That's illogical! :P

I only want to add this: I think the U-87 (a question, why they called it so) is a cool predecessor for the 0005 and the later models.

****(NERD ALERT AHEAD)****
I can only theorize that this is a long line of Greystone prototypical tech (rather like how the Air Force designates experimental aircraft with an X- #, such as the X-1, then up to the X-15, etc, etc); if or when the prototype goes into mass production, one assumes (perhaps incorrectly) that it'll be Cylon model 0001 (and maybe the Cylons themselves have had four successive improvements on the first model line since. U-1 could've been the first Greystone laptop for all we know.

Just saying; could easily be wrong... :cylonnono:

Thanks, Kmpr'rak! Qaapla! :cylonclap:

Hope I spelled that right; I don't have my Toaster-to-Klingon dictionary handy... :P
I've been told "Qaapla" by "Gowron" himself (Robert O'Reilly) once; I bumped into him at a convention where he was 'toy shopping' with his two boys (he wasn't even a featured guest that day; he was just hanging out). He was kind enough to pose for a picture. A deeply cool guy! :cylonclap:

"U" is for 'utility'.

So they may have been others, but don't count on that either.

Another idea it was the contract name from the Ministery of Defence.

U for useless ......

No, only a joke, I do not think the Ministry was responsible.
I think they gave out the project, and Graystone has won. Well,
perhaps they only want 350,000 cubits for one and the concurrence
wanted more or so.

Good one!
Maybe U is for useless; like the Enterprise's GNDN conduit piping throughout the ship ("GNDN" was an in-joke among the show's art department; it stood for 'goes nowhere, does nothing.'). ;)

The magic 8-Ball says that "U" stands for Unit. As in Unit 87.

That's all I needed to hear; the uber-reliable CK magic 8-ball has spoken! And as we all know, the CK magic 8-ball is never wrong. :cylonnono:
