1: This is our distant future (think Planet of the Apes) and the Colonials are the last humans in the universe.
2: It's the distant past, the 13th Tribe nuked themselves to death, and we are all decedents of the Colonials.
I like your option 2.

That's what Gaeta said.

The exact same thing happened in Seaquest 2032. I don't like it.

I'd prefer option 2 but, a lot of fans online seem to agree that the fleet landed just outside New York City.

I have now seen this episode twice. Yesterday and today. I am still floored by the whole episode. I don't know what to think or feel. Actually I do but if I posted it Zipper would suspend my privileges to post on this site. So I will give the walt disney reaction. FRACK!!!!!! EE jinxed the whole thing. I want a bad ending. Well you got it!
I am so upset I am seriously thinking about driving to Vancouver and rewriting all the scripts that they haven't filmed yet. Well I agree with everyone's input thus far. I think this is suppose to be a message to all of us. That unless we learn to get along and stop killing each other and the planet there will be no future.
You know the one thing that I realized that I love about Tigh, is that Tigh is still Tigh. He has not shifted loyalty, changed his personality, or done anything to jeopardize the safety of the crew or the ship. And the show demonstrated that it is willing to accommodate the masses by saying we have found an intelligent way to end the violence.
Well I am so overwhelmed, I think I am going to post some new topics and vent all this frustration out. Hope you guys will join me.

Michael Hogan is a rock. It's getting so I can't watch his depiction of Tigh without hearing Johnny Cash songs. (Specifically his cover of "Hurt" in the scenes with Caprica/Virtual Ellen)
He's got such grit.

I fly a starship across the Universe divide / And when I reach the other side / I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can / Perhaps I may become a highwayman again / Or I may simply be a single drop of rain / But I will remain / And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again...

I'm not so convinced that's where they landed. From what I could see there's no visual evidence as to where they landed except that it was once a large city and it's near water. If anyone noticed any discernable land marks please point them out.
I'll be at FedCon today but from what I understand the guest list has turned out to be a huge disappointment.

No clue.
Don't blame me. I just made a lucky guess.

Also, why is Laura still alive? What happened to the whole "dying leader" thing?

As myself and Toaster have already concluded that Kara might be the harbinger of the Cylon death not the Humans. The Hybrid never specified for whom she is the harbinger of death. But quite possible that leading them to a dead planet might be the key factor in making that happen. However, it is up for speculation at this point. I think they are either on abandoned colonial colony or it is Earth in the distant future. The planet has been nuked.
Laura is still alive because the legend said nothing about her being dead when they arrive just that she was dying. Dying doesn't mean that you end up dead at the end. Just your current status. She might make a full recovery. Who knows what is going to happen.

One of the guys in the CDF says it looks a lot like the Brooklyn Bridge, and I'd have to agree.
Who didn't show up at the con?

Who didn't show up at the con?
If you are referring to the Dallas Convention, I heard it was cancelled. And there is hardly anything left of that bridge to identify it, so it could be anywhere. And you are also proceeding on false assumption that they have found Earth. For all you know it could be another abandoned colony. Perhaps this planet is where the final Cylon Resides?
So I disagree with the location because there is no evidence to support it. But if it is in fact Earth and it is the Brooklyn Bridge than I will clean your Viper.

And yeah, I did see Caprica Six walking toward Saul at the end. That is going to be weird... And Tyrol, he smiled but I'm still not sure if he's still sane...
Oh and I really love that last scene with every character. All the reactions. Baltar seems more and more to be the last cylon. With how he always new that Tori was different... On a subconscious level...

It could be Terra form TOS, but, with it being so close to series end, I doubt it.
