Has anyone besides me wondered that if they could cloak and travel in time, why didn't they go back and save the Colonies?
Yeah that would change the whole show!

I know that, that's one of the main reasons I disliked the Max Press comics in the 90's that ignored G80, the whole preventing of the Cylon holocaust at the end, but, you've got to wonder why noon eon the show ever thought of it.

That is a very valid point. Somehow I think the answer is that it would be too easy to do it! Or maybe they were going to do it but the executives canceled the show before it could air. I am thinking that this would be an awesome way to end the new series. Somehow going back in time either through their own will or by accident. Either way I think it would be awesome to see it!

Perhaps it was too early in the life of the show to consider using time travel to prevent the Cylons from all but wiping out the Colonials, such things would be great for season conclusions or finales.
Also remember it wouldn't really be Battlestar Galactica had they gone back in time and stopped the Cylons, the purpose of the show was to go and find Earth not turn back the clock and prevent such a journey from being required.

Time travel... ooh, one of those things BSG should've NEVER touched.
They should've used it to prevent the surprise attack on the colonies. Since their journey to earth was largely accidental, it'd be much easier to plot a RETURN course to the colonies once they found earth in G1980. If they prevented the Cylon attack on the colonies, earth would NEVER have been in danger from the Cylons (who only found it by pursuing Galactica and the fleet...). Not to mention that the 'superman method' of undoing rotations would NOT allow one to travel back in time. The planet Venus travels in a retrograde orbit, and I'm pretty sure it's still in our time continuum...
Oh well. G1980 had many problems, but at least it's goofily entertaining. Kind of like an Ed Wood version of the show.
On a funny side note? I always thought it'd have been funny if they did a G1980/CHiPs crossover, with Ponch and John pursuing a couple of metrosexual guys in matching clothes riding matching cafe racer motorcycles....
