The ill-fated "Battlestar Galactica Technical Manual" was created for Realm Press by Kenneth Thomson Jr. and Mike McAdams with a foreward by Dr. Kevin Grazier. McAdams was responsible for the Galactica, the vipers and many other highly detailed pieces of artwork from within the Galactica's engine room, landing bays and internal transport systems. Thomson's images were strictly of the bridge of the Battlestar, and they were constructed from scratch for the Technical Journal.

A crying shame this thing was never published. Looks like a lot of work went into its production.

Kenneth Thomson Jr. stated that McAdams has no more interest in it. If I were Thomson, I'd secure the copyright and publish it. A fortune could be made.

Absolutely. This is fantastic stuff!
One thing though, I've never understood why a craft whose main purpose is to fly in vacuum has intakes like a jet fighter... To be fair, the same thing bugged me with the X-wing as well.

As I've always understood the meaning behind that, they're also supposed to function as atmospheric fighters, using air intakes as an alternative means of acquisition for combustion accelerant (air), compressed to be stored up later in extra-atmospheric use. Kind of like the Bussard collectors on the warp engine nacelles on Trek ships used to collect hydrogen and other base elements in space to be converted into deuterium for the matter/antimatter intermix reaction.

I'd love to see something similar for the new series as well. The detailing in those CGI photos is simply amazing. I assume by 'ill-fated' it never got published?
And yes, I'd like to see some Cylon tech as well (although that was always kept a little more vague in TOS, as I recall).

Yeah, they really missed the boat on merchandise for both BSG's. I bet Caprica will be the same. *cries out* WHY!!!?
