Slice of SciFi begins its new air date this week on Saturday, June 30, 2007 with “Blood Ties” producer Peter Mohan and is brought to you by Audible.com. Peter is also one of the writers who has taken the highly successful Tanya Huff book and adapted it for television for the Lifetime Cable Network. Currently he is responsible for penning 22 episodes of the show. “Blood Ties” is a unique 21st Century detective tale of a private investigator and her 500 year old vampire lover.

Well versed in the scifi/fantasy and horror genre, some of Peter’s other credits as producer and writer include — Mutant X, Relic Hunter, Myth Quest, Code Name: Eternity, Escape From Mars, Le Femme Nikita and the Highlander TV series.

In the News:
Online media sparks big entertainment industry growth by tapping into what is being termed “convergent platforms.” Barry Josephson is set to produce a film adaptation of Michael Buckley’s children book series ‘The Sisters Grimm.” Britain’s BBFC put the breaks on the distribution of the video game “Manhunt 2.”

Movie Talk:
Walt Disney is looking to change its slant on it’s traditional approach to the fairy tale with “Enchanted,” a fractured tale that is a combination old-school animation, new CGI technology and live-action.

Because we had so much content to cover for this show there will be no trivia, movie review or game cube but fear not, the Special Segment will return for the next program.

TV Talk:
We have “Heroes,” “Heroes,” and more “Heroes” news this week. Six more new talented actors will be added to NBC’s hit show as regular cast members for Season Two of the highly popular television show…..and, Missy Peregem makes the jump from “Heroes” and NBC to the CW Network where she will be one of the main characters for the new SF show “Reaper.”

Future Talk:
The crystal ball was murky for this segment which is evident for what Hollywood has in store for movie goers over the next year or so, at least with the two films we will be talking about.
Jack Black is a male witch in a comedy called “Man-Witch.” We all know Jack is better than this and can only hope his talent will save this one from the cauldron of mediocrity. Director Walt Becker is getting John Travolta and Robin Williams together for a sequel to the surprise hit “Wild Hogs,” in this new film called “Old Dogs.”

We also want to remind you about our two currently running contests. The Godzilla giveaway is offering two lucky winners a DVD each. One lucky winner will get a copy of “Ghidorah the 3-headed Monster,” and another winner will receive a DVD of “Invasion of Astro-Monster,” aka, “Godzilla vs Monster Zero.” In our other contest we have 3 DVD’s of MST3K-11. That’s right, Mystery Science Theater: Volume 11 will go to 3 lucky winners in this contest. For full details click on the images located in the upper left-hand corner of our homepage in the Contest Section.

We’ve got Peter Mohan, great news and information about the entertainment industry, your favorite movies and television shows, and we’re giving good stuff away. Who could ask for more? So, be sure to join us on our new broadcast day, Saturday — It’s Slice of SciFi Show #115, June 30, 2007.

On this week’s Slice of SciFi Show (#116 - Saturday, July 7, 2007), our guest is director/screenwriter Nick Ryan.

Nick hails from Dublin, Ireland and works with NOW Films, one of Europe’s premiere houses. Nick’s experience ranges from directing commercials (over 60 to-date), writing and overseeing promotionals, directing and screenwriting short films and documentary work. His creations in film and television have been seen throughout Europe, and thanks to the Internet, the rest of the world is now beginning to enjoy Nick’s unique talent.

Two of his most popular short films include “Are We Alone?” — which examines the question (in a way that will catch you off guard)…are we alone in the universe?

“A Lonely Sky” is a unique short film starring “2001: Space Odyssey” and “2010″ actor Kier Dullea and Paudge Behan who appeared in the feature film “Veronica Guerin”. This fascinating film is set in 1947 and revolves around a test pilot who is willing to risk his life to break the sound barrier.

In the News:
We’re talking zombies with the launching of the new “Dead Air” Website for the upcoming zombie flick written by Kenny Yakkel and directed by Corbin Bernsen. We ask an interesting question — what ever happen to the Richard Kelly film “Southland,” which was to star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson? Warner Bros. Pictures and director Zack Snyder have put out the casting call for anyone who looks like certain famous people from the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s (some who are still alive today), all to make appearances in the new “Watchmen” movie.

Movie Talk:
Executive producer James Cawley has announced the release date for the highly anticipated New Voyages flick “World Enough and Time,” starring Mr. Sulu himself, George Takei. This production will get a real send off — its own LIVE premiere with George and crew in Beverly Hills, California. We have all the details for you.

Special Segment:
We plan on bringing you another round of Slice of Trivia from clip-master Doug Kress that should make you go - hmmmmm!

TV Talk:
We talk a bit about SCI FI Channel’s different, and what some are calling bizarre, look at the updated re-imaging of the classic Wizard of Oz tale in this new miniseries due out in December 2007 called “Tin Man.”

Future Talk:
We hired a Norse fortune teller to glimpse the future and give us the skinny on the new James Caviezel film called “Outlander.” Jim is an alien who crash lands on Earth during the time of the Viking kings and he wasn’t alone in his spacecraft. What escapes after the crash landing brings terror and death to the humans forcing Caviezel to forge an alliance with the Vikings to bring down the predator.

We also take a brief look at “Amazon,” the story about a gladiatrix portrayed by Scarlett Johansson.

Outlander is due by Christmas 2007 — “Amazon,” sometime in 2008.

Remember our new day for regular show releases is now on Saturday. The Slice of SciFi Voicemail show is released for download the day before on Friday. See you on the Net, XM-Satellite or, for you West Coasters, on KVON-FM.

SciFi Rockers “Warp 11″ On Slice of SciFi Show #117 Saturday, July 14, 2007

We’ve got rockers in the house, er, I mean studio for this week’s Slice of SciFi Show #117.

Sci-fi rock superstars Warp 11 pay us a visit to talk about their much-anticipated fourth studio album, “It’s Dead, Jim”. From the raw power of “Belt Buckle Tractor Beam”, the Ramones-inspired “Tribbles and Ecstasy”, the Christian rock anthem “Beam Me Up to Heaven” and the somber trip-rock journey of “Trekquiem”, the wickedly funny Warp 11 is clearly at the top of their game.

Warp 11 recorded the new release in their hometown Sacramento, California with co-producer Joe Johnson (Cake, Deftones). The album was mastered by Jason Livermore (The Ataris, Less Than Jake, Rise Against).

Through hundreds of “nitro burnin’ prime directive” live concerts, television and radio appearances nationwide, the wickedly funny Warp 11 has gone beyond sci-fi fans to win over mainstream rock audiences with seriously great music and an undeniable good time.

Mike, Brian, Tim and Sam are also in the studio to bring you all the latest in scifi and genre-related news. Summer is out on assignment and will be back for our next show.

In the News:
In this day of mass petitions it should come as no surprise that a “Save Harry Potter” campaign has been sparked by fans of the lucrative franchise. We bring you the Superman-Cavemen connection and this year’s Comic Con in San Diego, CA will showcase some really big talent for its panels on Star Trek, Beowulf, The Spiderwick Chronicles, The 4400, Babylon 5, Iron Man and so much more.

Movie Talk:
Sam is on hand to give his review of the newly released DVD of “Stolen Life” starring Claudia Black and Chris Jones. This Peter Rasmussen creation is a real gem you won’t want to miss.

Special Segment:
This week’s slot for specials is a Con Report from the Heinlein Con. Turns out we fans not attending this each year are really missing out.

TV Talk:
We have all the skinny on the new ABC anthology series “The Masters of Science Fiction.” We tell you who will be directing, and starring in four new shows that will features the works of such SF greats like Harlan Ellison, John Kessel, Howard Fast and Robert Heinlein. We will also share a short synopsis of all four films to be highlighted beginning in August.

Future Talk:
2009 will be one of the biggest years yet in theaters for scifi, fantasy, horror and animation. With two years to go until the Summer releases begins the moviegoing season for 2009 there are already 19 new features announced with loads more in the works between now and January 2009. We give you some details on just a few and even with that, we have only skimmed the surface.

With a lineup like Warp 11 and all the great genre news and information tapped for this show you will want to be sure and download or tune-in for Slice of SciFi Show 117 ready for download Saturday, July 14, 2007, also on XM-Satellite Radio and KVON on the West Coast.

This week’s show will star one of the directors for the new SCI FI Channel series “Flash Gordon.”

T.J. Scott, no stranger to genre film and television, talks about his work on the new series which will give Flash a whole new look and feel and bring it well into the 21st Century mindset — less camp and a more serious take on the idea of despotism and survival, with just a tad of a homage from time to time to the 1980’s film and 1930’s film serial.

T.J. has a resume that looks like a blueprint for making scifi and fantasy films and television. He has directed episodes of the highly acclaimed “Charlie Jade” series, “La Femme Nikita,” “Andromeda,” “Xena: Warrior Princess” and even “Kung Fu” and the “Robo Cop” television series just to name a few — and oh yes, that infamous series that we try to never name, “Cleopatra 2525,” but we won’t hold that against him.

In the News:

Isaiah Washington, straight off his PC faux pax on “Grey’s Anatomy,” has signed on with his own development deal with NBC and will also be a guest star on the new “Bionic Woman” series. — The nightmares begin as “Clive Barker’s Jericho” video game allows the player to enter Barker’s disturbed mind that will deliver a slice of the supernatural. — Starting in October “Battlestar Galactica” will begin preparing its audience for the upcoming November special 2-hour movie “Razor” by presenting a micro-series of episodes centering on a young William Adama and his pre-season one dealings with Admiral Kane.

Movie Talk:

The studio gang go freelancing and talk about all the movies they want to see that will be coming out between now and December. Mike has already gotten some early looks and trailers for several films including “I Am Legend,” starring Will Smith and “Stardust,” which we have featured on a past show. The crew get all geeky over the anticipation for what appears to be a great SF 2nd half of 2007 in theaters.

Special Segment:

Sam Sloan, our Farpoint Media Executive News Director, has a cool DVD movie review of the Graham Robertson written and directed film “Able Edwards” which holds the distinction of being the first ever film to be shot entirely without sets or props against a green screen beating out such big budgeted films as “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow” and “Immortal (ad vitam).” A Scanner Darkly’s Steven Soderbergh served as Executive Producer for “Able Edwards.”

Future Talk:

Masi Oka, who plays time-traveling hero Hiro Nakamura on NBC’s Emmy nominated hit SF series “Heroes,” spills the beans on season two of the show. Beware, there be spoilers here. — And, finally after a nearly 10-year wait the script for the second X-Files film is completed and it comes from the pen of series creator Chris Carter and collaborator Frank Spotnitz. David Duchovny says he and Gillian Anderson will be getting the script within the week.

This will be one of our best shows yet. “Flash Gordon” director T.J. Scott and loads of news, snark and information on this Slice of SciFi Show #118 ready for you on the net this Saturday, July 21, 2007 and two days later (Monday) on XM-Satellite Radio. Some of our West Coast listeners can hear us on KVON-FM in the Napa Valley. Don’t forget to also download our Slice of SciFi Voicemail show which comes out every Friday.

And, as a reminder to our XM-Satellite Radio listeners, be sure to contact XM and tell them how much you like Slice of SciFi and appreciate them bringing us to you.

On this week’s Slice of SciFi show #119 (July 28, 2007) we have as our special guest, actor Colin Ferguson who plays Sheriff Jack Carter on the hit SCI FI Channel show “Eureka,” seen every Tuesday at 9/8C.

Ferguson was born in Montreal, Canada but grew up in Toronto, Hong Kong, England and the State of Connecticut in the United States. Having moved a great deal, needing to constantly make new friends and having worked in a variety of occupations actually prepared him for the actor’s life in that it made him ready for sudden changes in his fortune and a good eye for opportunity.

Before landing this successful gig at SCI FI, his resume’ was already very impressive. Colin was a member of the Montreal improv group On The Spot, as well as a founding member of The Second City in Detroit. He has worked on both sides of the camera and his feature-film credits include the Universal movie “Because I Said So” with Diane Keaton, the 1996 Olympic flick “Rowing Through,” the very funny “The Opposite of Sex” with Christina Ricci and Lisa Kudrow and many more. He was a regular on the NBC remake of the hit British comedy series “Coupling” and the ABC sitcom “Then Came You.” You also have seen him guest starring on many television shows such as “Malcolm in the Middle,” “Crossing Jordan,” “Becker” and “CSI: Miami.”

Mike and Summer had a real blast talking with Colin as he shared the fun of working with his fellow cast members on “Eureka” and the three of them had such a good time that they actually ran out of time before he could drop some juicy tidbits about what to expect from future episodes. Don’t be too disappointed though because their exciting conversation will keep you glued to your seat and leave you wanting more.

On the rest of the show there is plenty of news and informations such as –

In the News:

It’s a case of good news/bad news for the SCI FI Channel as it relates to ratings. Eureka goes through the roof while Doctor Who disappoints. — The new Transformers video game is getting good reviews from gamers and critics alike. — More recognition comes to “Heroes,” this time from the Television Critics Association.

Movie Talk:

In some Matt Damon news, he returns as the unstoppable and uncatchable CIA-trained assassin Jason Bourne for the third film in the franchise with “The Bourne Ultimatum.”

On August 10th you may, for the first time in your life, find out what it really means to be a child again and scared half out of your wits with the debut of the tantalizing horror flick “Skinwalkers.”

Special Segment:

Hey everybody! Doug Kress is back with three new trivia clips that will leave you going hmmmmm, but in a very entertaining way. Slice of Trivia returns.

TV Talk:

Because of the recent tragedy at the Virginia Tech campus earlier this year Fox has decided to reshoot and cut some of its more graphic scenes shot at a high school that John Connor attends for the new SF thriller “The Sarah Connor Chronicles.”

CBS will introduce another new SF/fantasy drama from famed director Barry Sonnenfeld. It is called “Kingdom” and comes from the pen of “Tru Calling” scribe Chad Hodge.

Future Talk:

We have two films coming out on the same day, September 26, 2008, but they are as different as night and day.

The first is a family-oriented film starring Eddie Murphy about imagination and possibility. It is titled “Nowwhereland.”

The second will be a film that won’t be as family-friendly as Murphy’s entry. The Roger Corman remake of “Death Race 2000″ will finally hit the big screen and stars fan favorite Jason Statham. “Death Race,” will be directed by “AVP” and “Resident Evil’s” Paul W.S. Anderson.

We also are still running our “Dark Crystal Soundtrack CD” contest until midnight August 3rd. Go to the contest link found in the upper left-hand corner of this website for details.

Slice of SciFi Show #120 -- August 4, 2007

The wonderful Robert Picardo talks with us, taking time away from his hectic Comic Con schedule, and shares with us the news about his upcoming charity/auction/dinner event that he hosts in Las Vegas on August 12, 2007.

Robert also shares with us some great news concerning the future of his much loved character from Stargate SG-1, Mr. Richard Woolsey. Robert reminds us that this character didn’t start out being loved, but eventually mellowed and became a friend of the Stargate program and not its enemy.

Some of Robert’s future projects include voice work on the scifi animated adventure film “Quantum Quest: A Cassini Space Odyssey” where he shares voice duties with John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, the great James Earl Jones and many other find actors. He just wrapped on the movie “P.J.” a drama starring “Battlestar Galactica” alum John Heard and Vincent Pastore of “The Sopranos” fame.

Keeping very busy on and off the soundstage with cons, charity events and other important functions, Robert will also be seen in two other films yet-to-be-released. One is the action comedy “Ben 10: The Movie” and the other is “Universal Signs” where he will star alongside everyone’s favorite Lois Lane — Margot Kidder.

In the News:

Our news segment this show is all about last weekend’s Comic Con and some of the tidbits that came out of that history making event…for instance — TV genre shows made the biggest splash at this year’s Con. A mysterious crate surrounded by security guards revealed a secret for all attendees. And, actor Edward Norton became overwhelmed by fan response to him going to play Bruce Banner/The Hulk in the big green baddie’s next film.

Movie Talk:

Excalibur meets Caesar in “The Last Legion,” a fantasy action-adventure that follows the beginnings of the legend of the ancient mystical sword.

We have a full update from Sir Ridley Scott on his announced re-release of “Blade Runner” on DVD later this year. We tell you all the goodies to expect on this one.

TV Talk:

Eli Stone is a lawyer with a vision that is making a p-r-o-p-h-e-t for his firm and Kevin McKidd hits his stride in NBC’s “Journeyman.”

Future Talk:

The crystal ball is very clear this week and we have laid to rest the rumor that Star Trek XI will come out December 2008. In fact, the rumor was true. JJ Abrams announced that he was able to get the much coveted date of December 25, 2008 for the release of this eleventh film in the Star Trek franchise.

82-year old Mel Brooks is back and in perfect form for his release of “Spaceballs: The Animated Series due for release this Fall on the G4-TV Cable network.

We also have news about our current “Fallen” contest and tell you how to get your entry in for that one. We’ve got Robert Picardo, all this great news and information and best of all — IT’S ALL FREE! Ed Quinn, who plays Nathan Stark on the very popular and critically successful SCI FI Channel show “Eureka” joins us on this week’s Slice of SciFi Show #121.

An original Californian, Ed attended the University of California at Berkeley obtaining his bachelor degree in history. He started his acting career as a model throughout Western Europe doing television commercials. On United States television he has starred in the “Young Americans,” “CIS: Crime Scene Investigation,” “According To Jim,” “CSI: NY,” “JAG” and so many more, being equally comfortable and talented doing drama, sci-fi or comedy.

A consumate musician, Ed studied guitar with the legendary Joe Satriani and played with LA bands Mad Theory and Scattergood. He has also done a solo music CD titled “Quinn.”

Ed starred in the direct-to-DVD “Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation” in 2004. We can’t hold that against him because his performance in that flick caught the eye of the creators of “Eureka.” Quinn is a perfect match for this funny, witty, and yet serious show about a community of scientists and engineers all living together in a secluded Oregon town where anything can happen, and usually does. Until recently Quinn’s character Nathan Stark ran the whole town and knew all its top secrets, but due to a terrible accident he was replaced by his ex-wife. Fortunately for all of us who love the show and him in it, Quinn’s character remains a vital part of the story. In fact, Ed Quinn, as one of the members of this highly talented ensemble cast, is one of the main reasons why “Eureka” is one of SCI FI Channel’s highest rated shows in the cabler’s history.

In The News:

In Season Two of the acclaimed NBC hit show “Heroes,” viewers will get to do some extensive traveling abroad. Helen Slater, 1980’s Supergirl, joins the cast of “Smallville” as the new Supergirl’s aunt. The Universal Studios Theme Park “Back To The Future” ride will make its final trip through the time vortex this Labor Day.

Special Segment:

Doug Kress is live for Slice of Trivia with Indiana Jim rattling sabers with clips that will stump you……And, Slice of SciFi fan Tim Low brings us a fan-review of the new film “Sunshine.”

Movie Talk:

The 20th Anniversary Collector’s Edition of Robocop will be available on August 21 and we have a geek-gasim over the very thought of it. The crew takes a serious look at a new documentary coming out on September 7th titled “In The Shadow Of The Moon.” This riveting film has the last remaining Apollo astronauts, the only people alive to have ever walked on another world. Their first-hand testimony is interwoven with visually stunning never-before-seen NASA film footage. This film is a must because these men will be gone sooner than later and it is living history that will never be witnessed again.

TV Talk:

“Millennium’s” Chip Johannessen will step into the big shoes of the ailing David Greenwalt as showrunner for the new CBS show “Moonlight” and we talk about why this could be a good thing.

Future Talk:

All our future news is about upcoming DVD releases for October, November and December of this year. I’ll give you some hints — Carradine, planes, islands and zombies.

You will not want to miss one minute of our exciting and fun interview with Ed Quinn, plus we have several new contests to tell you about — so, be sure to download, tune-in, turn-on and listen to Slice of SciFi Show #121, ready online Saturday, August 11, 2007, on XM Satellite Radio’s The Sonic Channel and KVON-FM in the Napa Valley.

Crosby & Gieni of “Last Blood” Talks With Our Slice of SciFi Crew on Show #122 -- August 18, 2007

Our guests this week on Slice of SciFi are the creator and illustrator of the “Last Blood” graphic novel. Bobby Crosby creator/writer of the series, which is fantastically illustrated by artist Owen Gieni, both share all the latest news about this entertaining and thought provoking comic.

“Last Blood” is a graphic novel set in an apocalyptic age where the last remaining humans are being protected from brain-eating zombies by blood-sucking vampires who need the humans as a source of blood. In this dark time humans become a precious life-saving commodity.

In The News:

French teen gets a break from J.K. Rowling and Gallimard publishers and avoids jail and prosecution after being taught a serious lesson in copyright infringement. But, there was something about this young man that really fascinated the professionals. Jack Black will star in an upcoming Indiana Jones parody. Daniel Silva’s great spy novels are set to be turned into big screen features.

Movie Talk:

Even though “The Dark Knight” won’t be out until next year, some CON fans got a real treat with some early footage from the film and got to see Heath Ledger as The Joker up close. We have news that New Line is trying to woo director Peter Jackson back into the family to do “The Hobbitt” after their quite public and legal disputes.

Special Segment:

This week we have a great fan review from Wendell Schubert as he shares with us what he and his family thought of the Neil Gaiman and Charles Vess adapted for film novel “Stardust.”

TV Talk:

We take a look at the new HBO series “True Blood,” which will be run by “Six Feet Under” creator Alan Ball. The Emmy winning NBC show “Medium” gets an Academy Award winning actress for six full episodes.

Future Talk:

Our crystal ball is so finely-tuned this week that we bring you three new films that are so far out in the future that there are no release dates for them yet. Here’s a hint - doomsday machines, defender of the universe and God of Thunder.

Slice of SciFi Show #122 starring “Last Blood” creator Bobby Crosby and artists Owen Gieni will be ready for download on Saturday, August 18, 2007. It can also be heard each week on XM-Satellite Radio’s The Sonic Channel and KVON-FM in the Napa Valley, California. Tell a friend and listen in.

Producer Keith Addis On Slice of SciFi Show #123 -- Saturday, August 25, 2007

Keith Addis has a resume that would be the envy of any sci-fi geek. He has participated in some of the most highly watched programs in television and film. His choices for shows runs the gamut of entertaining venues. Here is just a small sampling of this talented producer’s work:

Executive Producer –
Masters of Science Fiction
Masters of Horror
Pittsburgh - (starring Jeff Goldblum & Ed Begley Jr).
The Bride
Threat Matrix
Hope and Faith
War Stories
Haunted
Gotham

Producer –15 Minutes
Antitrust
The New Age
Tesla
Alice In Wonderland

Way back in 1976 Keith cut his cinematic teeth working on a little film you may slightly remember, “Taxi Driver,” starring Robert De Niro, Peter Boyle and Jodie Foster. Keith worked as an assistant to the producers, learning the ropes from them and wrote the lyrics to one of the songs used in that Academy Award winning classic film that put Bobby De Niro’s career on the forever upward road of success.

Keith will talk with us about his work with the Masters series and his upcoming project with the SCI FI Channel that we are all getting pretty excited about called “Dragon Steel.”

In the News we find that Harry Potter creator, J.K. Rowling is going in an entirely new direction and genre for her next novel. What is the significance of the title “01-18-08″? — we tell you. And, Aniboom is an online animation force to be reckoned with.

October is just two months away and we all know what that means….yes, little goblins and monsters ringing your doorbell for some sweet treats. We look at two horror films geared for the season in our Movie Talk segment.

Trivia Doug, GameCube Paul and all the MoviePulse review crew are on a short hiatus so there is no Special Segment for this week’s show. However, the timeslot is filled quite nicely with a special promo warning of a certain syndrome only suffered by certain members of the scifi geek community.

We have some new television casting news for fans of NBC’s “Heroes” and ABC’s “Lost.” Also, genre fans will be happy to know that at next month’s Emmy Awards presentation, hosted by Ryan Secrest, sci-fi will be well represented with 30+ Emmy nominations in several important categories, including best drama.

The news we have coming down from the future was so snarky that even Mike was about ready to turn off the studio lights and head for home. Find out why these two future flicks that are discussed made him want to loose his lunch. Here’s two tiny clues — Uwe and Footloose!

Be sure to join Mike, Summer, Brian and Tim with all the latest news from Sam and his news team, and our interview with the wonderful Keith Addis on the next Slice of SciFi show #123, ready for download this Saturday, August 25, 2007. We can also be heard on XM-Satellite Radio and for our fans in the Napa Valley, on KVON-FM on your radio dial.

Director Shane Felux On Slice of SciFi Show #124 -- Saturday, September 1, 2007

For this week’s Slice of SciFi Show #124 we have the very creative director of “Star Wars Revelations” and “Pitching Lucas” — Shane Felux. He joins our crew to talk about his new film project called “Trenches.”

“Trenches” is about a war-torn planet and the soldiers who fight for its control. But when the smoke of battle clears, these enemies find themselves facing a danger beyond their worst imaginings.

In our news segment of the show we take an interesting ride into space as we make reservations for a 3-night stay at the orbiting hotel called “Galactic Suite.” We have lots of Harry Potter news. Harry moves from the big screen to the boards of the stage in the proposed Harry Potter stage musical, Academy Award winner John Williams, who did the score for the first two Potter movies is looking to come on board for the final film in the franchise, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” Finally, author Ian Rankin quells the tempest he set off when he said that Potter writer J.K. Rowling would be writing a detective story for her next novel. Can anyone say - “Just kidding?”

We have movie news about a remake of “The Day the Earth Stood Still,” and who is set to star as Klaatu. Jodie Foster gets Linda Hamilton kick-butt buff for her next vigilante-styled film called “The Brave One.”

Because we will be having a live Trivia segment on our next show LIVE from DragonCon, next week, there is no Special Segment for this show.

Loads of TV news on this show. Some great new and classic television shows are being offered on DVD over the next month. We tell you what to save up your shekels for, and we give you some interesting SF news for all those who have the ability to get HD on your TV set. It seems that HD-Net has acquired the rights to show some great sci-fi. Here is just a hint of what is now available and will be coming this fall: “Firefly,” “Torchwood,” “Surface” (which is absolutely awesome in hi-def), as is “Battlestar Galactica,” “Star Trek: Enterprise” and “Stargate: Atlantis.” If you don’t yet have an HD set, it might be time to start thinking seriously about it because SF is so grand in HD, you can’t imagine what is being missed in standard mode.

The SoSF crystal ball looks at the immediate and distant future with two films. John Cusack and Amanda Peet star in “Martian Child,” and the Scorpion King will return with a prequel minus Dewayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Don’t forget to sign-up for our great new “The Film Crew” contest, which premieres with this show and don’t miss our fun and enlightening interview with the ever creative Shane Felux.

Slice of SciFi Show #124 is available online Saturday, September 1, 2007 and on XM-Satellite Radio, as well as KVON-FM on the West Coast.

Be sure to catch our show #125 on September 8th. It comes from the floor of this year’s DragonCon in Atlanta, Georgia with Mike and Brian behind the mic giving out all the news, Doug’s on hand for a LIVE trivia and the boys snag some great guests who will be at the Con.

Ira Steven Behr on Slice of SciFi Show #125 — Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007

Slice of SciFi Show #125 was to be recorded LIVE at last weekend’s Dragon Con in Atlanta, Georgia but Mike and Brian were so busy with the Parsec Awards program and running from one end of the Con to the other that it just didn’t work out. So, the show will be coming out of the Draco-Vista studio in Phoenix. Summer isn’t on hand but we have a good friend in the house in the guise of Peter Hansen, a.k.a. Warlord.

Our very special guest on this show is producer/writer/director Ira Steven Behr, the executive producer of that USA Channel mega SF hit series “The 4400.” Ira will fill us in on some of the rest of Season Four and what may be happening to some of our favorite characters from the show.

On the news front we clue you in on “Pet Robots,” a real snakes on a plane and a classic Midway Games video game creation is being brought to the big screen in a new film from producers Christine Peters and Michael Cerenzie.

The quintessential martial arts film that starred the legendary Bruce Lee is getting a remake. That’s two weeks in a row where Hollywood can’t leave well enough alone.

The South Park boys strike oil and the future is looking good for Lawrence Bender’s “Outside.”

Because Doug was all set to do a LIVE Trivia from Dragon Con, we will be minus a Special Segment this week, however, the boys have so much to talk about what happen at the Con and the latest news about so many of the shows and movies we love that the segment reserved for Trivia and Movie Reviews or Game Cube is filled to the max. Here is just a hint: “30 Days of Night,” “Age of Conan” video gaming and more.

So, we may not be coming LIVE from Dragon Con, but there will be so much news coming out of it on this show that you will feel like it is from the event….and, we have Ira. What more could one want? Tune in, download and listen to Slice of SciFi Show #125 this Saturday, September 8, 2007 or on XM-Satellite Radio and KVON-FM on the northern West Coast of the US.

Another upside to not having our show coming out of the Con? We have a voicemail show coming out later this evening (Friday - Sept. 7).

Just a reminder that our Slice of SciFi/The Film Crew double contest is on for the whole month. Go HERE for full details. See you all this weekend!

Designer and owner of the famous Uppercase Gallery, Janine Vangool, is our guest for Slice of SciFi Show #126 on Saturday, September 18, 2007.

Janine, showcased all the designers, sculptors, painters and artists that are featured in the new, highly praised book edition called “The Shatner Show.” The various sculptors and paintings of this project all revolve around the different aspects of that man we all know and love, and who was the source of inspiration for all who participated; their fellow Canadian — William Shatner.

The eclectic book selection features titles hand-picked for their uniqueness and quality of design and content. The collection of greeting cards and paper products are designed by Janine’s “Vangool Design & Typography.” Go HERE for a list of all the artists featured in “The Shatner Show.”

Some news about the audio feature “Star Trek: The Continuing Mission,” a SCI-FI to SCI-FACT concerning the latest in genetic engineering, and we tell you what the new Indy 4 movie will be called.

In Movie Talk we tell you all about the DVD release of “Transformers” and what you can expect to find on the dics. “Farscape” fans will love to hear about a film coming soon to DVD starring Gigi Edgley.

TV Talk is all about “Saving Harry Dresden.”
