Siress Tinia might or could have been the inspiration for Laura Roslin. She looks strong but say stupid things at first because she never been involved and once she finally gets it, she shines!

wouldn't surprise me, a lot of NuBSG stuff has come from TOS in some way, even some preliminary scripts from planned season 2 found there way into the new series. If you're observant, you'll see a lot of parallels and use of ideas by RDM from TOS, a salute to the greats of our past

I'm not sure, but at the end of the episode they're both arms in arms... Too bad we never got to see her again.

the ending was funny, Tigh sitting in the officers lounge thinking that he'll never have to see Siress Tinia again and then she comes walking in with Adama making Tigh to order another drink
one of my favourite episodes and it highlighted the councils attempts to rule over the direction of the fleet

best line is when col tigh says he wouldnt do that to me would he as adama and the siress walk on too the bridge arm in arm.
and as he gets excited, adama i command the galactica now launch that shuttle!.

It is a bit disturbing though, that the episode and most of the characters seem very much in favor of martial law!
That would never fly on the new show; that martial law decree would be challenged by all the civilians in the fleet. Not to mention Apollo and many others. But that aside, I like the darkness of that episode; it had a really great fatalism. Boomer gets the best line, though, "Next you'll be telling me I need council permission to use the turbo-flush!" Everything was turbo back then! 
And it was nice to see and hear good ol' Centurions again 
(even if they only had two 'by your command' lines). Refreshing after all that Eastern Alliance (the Space Nazis) and Borellian Nomen (TOS BSGs' Klingons) malarkey. Yet I liked Lloyd Bochner as Commandant Lichter; a good performance he gave. And as for Siress Tinia? Well, she was probably killed tripping over her "Bride of Frankenstein" robes. She must never have watched Bonanza; dating a Cartwright boy is often lethal! 
No woman on that show ever lasted the hour!
