Seemed that original BSG producer Glen Larson had a real thing for red LED displays, as he was also the creator/producer of 'Knight Rider'. I also seemed to remember a Cylon in the opening credits of "The A-Team" (and Dirk "Face" Benedict gives it a puzzled look! "It's Cy! Resurrected from the junk-heap!" LOL). Frank Lupo worked on that show, as well as classic BSG. It'd be a hoot if Larson was revealed to be "The Cylon God" on new BSG!

You know what's funny when you mentioned Glen Larson...
If you have Knight Rider on DVD, he and David Hasselhoff do the commentary on the pilot episode. When Michael is first introduced to KITT, Glen says in the commentary that he gave KITT the moving eye because he always liked it with the Cylons.

I suspected Larson had unresolved Cylon issues carrying over into KITT's design...still pining for us toasters I see; I get that a lot! Hee hee. Yeah, right!
Well, Larson is (as was Dr. Ravishol) the 'father creator.'

I was just watching some vids on youtube...
It turns out what I thought was right about KARR in the first season...KARR had a red eye.
But when he reappeared in the third season for KITT vs. KARR, his eye was yellow.
I was wrong about how the eye moved, however. Maybe I was getting the vocal lights mixed up with the eye. Now, those did move differently.

I've had this on my website for a few years... it fits in perfect in this thread 
Aphrodite, you are right about the voice boxes, they are different between K.I.T.T. and K.A.R.R. The scanners are the same/or different depending on the show.
Season 1: Trust Doesn't Rust
Voice Box:
-K.I.T.T. had the first season solid red box (not the LED bars).
-K.A.R.R. had LED bars in a green/yellow hue that is a different pattern than K.I.T.T. would eventually get in red LEDs
Scanner:
-Originally the two cars were nearly 100% identical. The voice box and primary programming where the only difference. Both had read scanners in season 1 "Trust Doesn't Rust." [Link to Hulu to watch the show!]
Season 3: K.I.T.T. vs. K.A.R.R.
Voice Box:
-In this show K.I.T.T. had his red LED voice box, K.A.R.R. the same as in Trust Doesn't Rust.
Scanner:
-This show the two cars did differ. K.A.R.R.'s scanner turned color from red to a greenish/yellow/amber color. K.A.R.R. mentions in the show his scanner has suffered a reduction in obassity, one may take that as the reason for the color change - attributed to him being entombed in salt water and sand.
Paint:
Also, K.I.T.T. and K.A.R.R. had different paint in this episode at a certain point. In the original version (some airings have the scene cut) K.A.R.R. states that he wishes to alter his appearance to John (guy that found him). Hence the two tone paint job he later has with grey/white-ish lower half.
