The BBC has given us our first proper look at the sartorial style Jodie Whittaker will be sporting as the titular Time Lord in the corporation’s long-running time travel show Doctor Who.

Earlier today, the official Doctor Who twitter account posted an image of Whittaker dressed in pants, suspenders, long coat and striped shirt, standing in front of her character’s time- and spaceship, the TARDIS.

It was announced in July that the Broadchurch star had been cast as the Doctor by new showrunner Chris Chibnall. Whittaker is the first woman to play the part.

I’m beyond excited to begin this epic journey — with Chris and with every Whovian on this planet. It’s more than an honor to play the Doctor,” said Whittaker at the time in a statement. “It means remembering everyone I used to be while stepping forward to embrace everything the Doctor stands for: hope. I can’t wait.”

Whittaker will make her first appearance as the Doctor on this year’s special Christmas episode of the science fiction show, which will be broadcast by BBC America.

The Tardis seems to of gone through a change as well. Seems to of gone back to the 80's design.

I like the '80s design; harkens back to the era where I first began watching the show (late '70s, the Tom Baker era).

As for her Mork from Ork style? I like it. It says 'eccentric' without screaming it. I also like her 10th Doctor style overcoat. Besides, I think Whittaker could wear a burlap sack with a fedora and she'd pull it off. ;)

I'm a bit underwhelmed by the look. It seems a bit like something Rachael would wear early on in Friends - I've never been keen on the Doctor being fashionable; more off and out of time (like Smith, not as far as Baker2!). But I'm looking forward to her in the role, and it's not that big of a deal for me really.
