I think it has something to do with them being excited (aroused), but is this true? In the miniseries Six threw Baltar on the bed and "mounted" him, and her spine started to glow red. When Caprica Sharanon slept with Helo on Caprica, her spine was glowing red. Is this why it glows red?

Cheers. :)

My guess is that it was just something to make them seem more "robot-like" and less human. Something to set them apart from the other characters. Probably no fact X, Y, Z reason for it, I'm guessing???

I would say just good ol' passion seems to do the trick. :sixanime004: They don't really ever show them doing that again after the first season. Interesting.... :cylonanime01:

I'd have to side with the toaster since the only time we saw the red "spine" was during :sixanime004: making.

In fact quite a shame. It would have made Cylon detectors much more fun.
I mean for Dr. Baltar of course *rolls her eyes*

It was shown in a few episodes that the human cylons use a system sort of like fiber optic cables for communicating with computers, namely the ones on their own ships. It is possible that, at least in some parts, their nervous system uses this same design. In humans anyway, the sex organs, particularly in females, have a very large number of nerves, so the same is likely true of cylons. Thus, when having sex, and potentially other activities, there is so much information (light) travelling through their spines that it causes them to glow brightly enough to be visible through the skin.

Thats my theory anyway.

Welcome aboard! It's as good a theory as anything.

I agree with this one 100%! From a Cylon biological standpoint, it makes sense.
