Prepare yourself for some good fracking news, Battlestar Galactica fans! This year’s Comic-Con International will feature a reunion of the seminal space serial. According to The Hollywood Reporter, creator Ron Moore, Tricia Helfer, Katee Sackhoff, Mary McDonnell and Grace Park are confirmed for the Thursday, July 20th panel in Ballroom 20.

The reunion is just one of many events announced to celebrate Syfy’s 25th anniversary. Other events include trivia trolleys, panels for current Syfy shows like The Magicians and free-to-the-public parties hosted by nerd extraordinaire Zachary Levi.

“Comic-Con is our Super Bowl and this is our coming out to our fans and a real-life expression of what this new brand is,” Syfy VP Marketing and Digital exec Alexandra Shapiro said. “The Super Bowl is the big event and has a tailgate and afterparty, and we wanted to [do] all that and to do it in a way that’s inclusive and not exclusive.”

Syfy is also offering the chance to be married by American Gods star Orlando Jones in your own fan-tastic, fandom-centric wedding. “We will have chapel hours and all the things you need to make a fairy tale or superhero wedding, from accessories and bow ties to capes, whatever you’re passionate about, we’ll have the appropriate confetti, music and departure vehicle for said couple. It will be Instagrammable in every single way, including customizable wedding vows,” Shapiro said. “And Orlando has always wanted to do this. And the best part of all of it: everything we are doing is free.”

Jones himself even tweeted his excitement, writing,

Battlestar Galactica ran from 2004 to 2009, back when Syfy was spelled SciFi. A dramatically different take on the far campier Battlestar Galactica of the 70s, it proved to be the network’s first major hit in original, scripted programming and set the stage for many trends in pop culture, like serialization, fan theories and serious reboots of silly shows and movies. The cast also recently reunited at the ATX Festival in June, where they discussed the show’s impact.

Don’t know if I can get into Ballroom 20 (notoriously difficult to get into these days; you have to camp out there all morning, and even overnight sometimes...), but I’m hoping that if the cast has a group signing, I met get a poster of mine signed as well as some pics on my handy-dandy iPhone... :cylonclap:
