Maybe the William Adama in Blood and Chrome won't be the same William Adama from Galactica. He'll die at the end of the show, but then they'll reveal Joseph Adama had a third son named William who is just about to embark on his first combat mission, and has taken the callsign Husker in honor of his (second) fallen brother.

Seriously, though, they should just ignore canon. I don't mind, as long as it's a good story.

I agree that a slight deviation from canon in service of a good story is not a crime, but stray too far and your story loses credibility with longtime fans.
It is like walking a tightrope, making a prequel. Which is why I truly wish they wouldn't.

The BSG I know (and love) is done; let it rest in peace.


PS: As for your spoiler? Maybe Husker Adama really WAS a Cylon! Ha ha...

I agree with you OT. I doubt I will ever fret over a TV show like I did when BSG ended. It hurt for 2 weeks.

However, I think if they are able to scrape together a series out of the limited time frame presented by Adama's early combat experience it could be good. We need M. Taylor to stick around for more than the pilot though.

God(s) I am hurting for good sci-fi.

"Doctor Who" kind of filled my sci-fi niche; but no current sci-fi series is BSG-good (except for the astonishingly excellent "Walking Dead," but I really wouldn't think of that one as sci-fi; more 'horror-post-apocalyptic-drama'... kind of like BSG, which I called a human drama that just happens to have robots and space travel).

But Dr Who was kind of hit-and-miss last this year; half of the 5th series sucked, the other half was good-to-excellent. Kind of schizo.

But I really think they should just give BSG the proper burial it deserved and stop trying to resurrect it's corpse.

I don't know. If Taylor and the crew sticks to this it could be good:

According to Taylor, the series is "about a young man's [William Adama] initiation into war: both the realities of war as fought by soldiers on the ground (and in Battlestars and Vipers), and the somewhat less real version portrayed in the media."

Further, Taylor points out that the scope of the series "isn't confined to Galactica. Far from it. It's a story that will take us to new corners of the Battlestar world (or worlds), and yet it aims to be a very contemporary war movie in a lot of ways. I would say I'm thinking as much of Afghanistan and Iraq--the reality of [The] Hurt Locker, Sebastian Junger's Restrepo, and similar movies--as I am about about the largely implied past of Battlestar."

Blood and Chrome was also meant to feature adult situations as, according to Taylor, the series will not "[shy] away from R-rated blood and guts and sex" due to it being initially meant for online consumption

I won't lie. I want to see something on the 1CW.

I'm neutral; if they do it? Yes, I will watch (duh!).

If they don't? I'm OK with that too (still have all my BSG dvds!).
I just hope that they REALLY think it through this time, and have it tightly plotted before the shoot the first episode (no more of this bulls**t, naval-gazing nonsense); Caprica felt like so much farting around most of the time. It lacked drive and forward momentum.
I realize they were aiming for "Dallas In Space" or whatever, but come on; even DALLAS had more going on that!

Yup.

A big, fat, continuity nit... and you caught it in the act.

Actually, "Hero" had another one as well; it claimed the border skirmish (aboard the Valkyrie) happened three years before CW2; but in the pilot miniseries and other first season episodes, Gaeta and Tyrol both said they'd served under Adama aboard the Galactica for the last FIVE years. Let's just all take a deep breath, close our eyes, and say (repeatedly),
"Hero never happened, Hero never happened, Hero never happened...."

That's good, folks! Keep it up, and Hero will be erased from our collective memory!


Besides, "Razor" was the better episode IMO, so that's the one I'll choose to remember!

Still think there could've been a year or two gap between McGavin's death and the destruction of the Columbia; that's my best guesstimate.
Husker's rise in confidence ("this c**ksucker's mine") and bravado seem to indicate he's got a little more combat flight time logged in.

But I could be wrong, and they'll just ret-con it (if B&C even gets past the pilot stage at this point).
