Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon

Transformers 3 takes on a different approach to action this time. It is following a logical progression instead of coming off like a kid on a sugar rush which is how the second movie played out in my opinion. The movie was not afraid to take some risks and had some great moments of dramatic tension. The risks pay off and makes for some great showdowns between Autobots and the Decepticons.

Finally the major clash of these robotic titans takes place. The action is on an epic scale that makes the movie worthy to be seen on the big screen. It turns out that our robotic friends have been around since the 60’s and this leads through a chain of events that spells certain doom for the autobots and Earth. Enslaving the human race under the control of a massive army of Decepticons that have been resurrected through technology found on the moon.

Once again our reluctant hero, Sam Witwicky is thrown into the frays with the Decepticons as he tries to assist Optimus Prime and his team of autobots combat overwhelming odds as they deal with the most intimidating threat yet – a device that allows the instantaneous transportation of Decepticons to Earth.

It is a slow build to the epic battle, but once in the heat of combat the movie delivers a great nail-biting, on-the-edge-of-your seat action. On a completely different level the movie almost serves as a “JOIN NOW” – and-fight-for-your-country message that has not been seen since the likes of Top Gun.

The dialogue in the movie comes off a little corny or just plan bad but it is an action movie and not Shakespeare. Michael Bay should stay away from bad quotes and dialogue that is worthy of a B-movie. The opening sequence with Sam’s new girlfriend came off more like a commercial than it did as a sexy love scene. Judging by the number of bruises on my arm from my son hitting me to ask me questions about what is going to happen next, I give this movie a solid 8 out of 10.

THis was the first transformers movie I liked. My best friend is THE transformers fanboy so of course I had to go... I saw it in Imax and that was pretty cool!
This was the first time I actually gave a damn about the autobots LOL. So that says a lot! It was a pretty good movie. Also the comic relief was much better in this one than the previous. I had moments where I actually LOL-ed :)
